Sacher cake is delicious and easy to prepare –

If you love chocolate and haven’t tasted a Sachertorte yet, it’s time to change that. This delicious recipe comes from Austria and is still considered one of the most delicious cakes ever. Its preparation is not difficult at all.

We need

  • 6 eggs
  • 170 g plain flour
  • 250 g of butter
  • 200 g of powdered sugar
  • 250 g of cooking chocolate
  • 1 vanilla sugar
  • 1/2 baking powder
  • apricot jam

For decoration

  • 160 g of good quality chocolate
  • 100 ml of whipped cream
  • 15 g of butter


  1. Divide the eggs into eggs and whites. Beat the egg yolks with sugar and melted butter in a bowl. Then add melted chocolate and baking powder. Mix well again. Finally, we gently work the beaten egg whites and sift flour into the dough with a shaker.
  2. Pour the mixture on the bottom of a baking sheet, which we recommend covering with baking paper. Place in a heated oven at 180 degrees and bake for approximately 65 minutes.
  3. The hardest part comes now. We have to cut the cake into two parts (the braver and more experienced cooks into three parts). Spread the individual slices with apricot jam and place them again on top of each other.
  4. Let the cake rest in the cold until the next day.
  5. The last step is to cover the cake with melted chocolate, which we mixed with whipped cream and butter in steam.
