Source: Good food/Valentína Nídelová

SERVES 4, PREPARATION 5 MINUTES, COOKING 5 MINUTES, BAKING 27 MINUTES

You need

  • 600 g of minced meat (a mixture of beef and pork)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 garlic
  • 1 onion
  • 40 g of grated parmesan
  • 120 g of breadcrumbs
  • half a teaspoon of dried basil
  • salt, ground black pepper

FOR THE SAUCE:

  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 500 g tomatoes (or a can of chopped tomatoes)
  • 100 ml of whipped cream
  • salt, ground black pepper
  • 150 g of mini mozzarella
  • fresh basil

APPROACH

  1. In a bowl, mix the minced meat with egg, pressed garlic, Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, basil, salt and ground black pepper.
  2. Form the mass into balls of about 3 cm size. Place them in a baking tray covered with aluminum foil and bake in an oven heated to 200°C for 12 minutes.
  3. While the balls are baking, in a large pan with a high rim, suitable for the oven, heat the butter and fry the cleaned onion, finely chopped. Fry for about 3 minutes. Add the crushed garlic and fry for another minute.
  4. Put the chopped cleaned tomatoes in the pan, add salt and pepper to taste. Take the stew off the heat and stir in the cream. Place the meatballs in the sauce and arrange the mini mozzarella. Bake in the oven for another 15 minutes to melt the mozzarella.
