Blackberries are a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth without reaching for sugar. One cup of raw blackberries has 62 calories, 1 gram of fat and 14 grams of carbohydrates. Vitamin C is important not only for maintaining a healthy immune system and protecting against diseases, but also participates in protein synthesis and is necessary for the body to produce collagen and certain neurotransmitters. These processes are essential for many bodily functions, including wound healing.

Source of fiber – A 100-gram serving of blackberries contains 14 percent of the RDI of fiber. Fiber plays a key role in regulating blood sugar and sugar consumption. There are two types of fiber in food, soluble and insoluble. Soluble fiber dissolves in water and is associated with lowering blood sugar and helping to maintain healthy cholesterol levels. Insoluble fiber does not dissolve in water, but thanks to this, it supports healthy digestion.

Blackberries contain both soluble and insoluble fiber.

For a healthy brain – A 2009 study found that rats that consumed blackberries had improved cognitive and motor skills compared to a control group of rats that did not receive blackberries. Scientists assume that this is due to the polyphenols that blackberries contain.

How to add blackberries to the diet?

Blackberries can be included in the diet very easily, because they are most delicious and healthy when fresh. For breakfast, just add them to oatmeal, cereal or yogurt, for a snack or snack, you can use them as part of a fruit salad.

Blackberries work well in smoothies with other berries – blueberries, strawberries or raspberries, they create an interesting flavor in combination with apples. If you add protein powder and oatmeal, you will increase the nutritional content of the cocktail and it will completely replace breakfast.

Desserts with blackberries

This berry works in almost all cakes and desserts where we put other berries. It is excellently combined with cream, mascarpone, you can use them to make a classic apple crust cake. Mixed blackberries mixed with white yogurt, possibly cream and flavored according to your preferences are the basis of perfect homemade popsicles or ice creams.
